Located near Lahore in Pakistan, NICL
is the only manufacturer of stearic acid
and distilled fatty acids in the country.
It is also the country's leading producer
of glycerine. NICL is a public company
listed on the Karachi Stock Exchange.
The current combined capacity of the
above three products is 24,000 TPA. Most
of the stearic acid is supplied to manufacturers
of bicycle tyres and tubes while almost
all the distilled fatty acids are supplied
to the leading soap manufacturers in the
country.
Another plant is under construction which
will have a capacity of 10,000 TPA of
caustic soda and 15,000 TPA of chlorine/hydrochloric
acid. NICL also has its own power plant
which provides electricity and steam to
neighbouring companies. A soap noodles
plant is planned for next year.
NICL has over 300 employees. The company
has an in-house laboratory and has developed
most of its products through local R&D.
