Formerly known
as Celanese Pakistan Ltd, this project was
set up by Hoechst AG in 1994. Nimir Chemicals
Company Ltd (NCCL), now known as KCL, was
a 20% shareholder in this company. In 1997,
when Hoechst restructured its chemical and
pharmaceutical business lines, NCCL increased
its shareholding to a majority and the company
changed its name to Nimir Chemicals Pakistan
Ltd.
NCPL is the only manufacturer of pthalic
anhydride in Pakistan with a recently
expanded capacity of 14,000 TPA. The company
also produces 700 TPA of maleic anhydride
and is the leading manufacturer of di
octyl pthalate (DOP) in Pakistan with
a production capacity of 15,000 TPA. DOP
is a plasticizer used in the manufacture
of PVC products.
Situated near Lahore, NCPL's three plants
were supplied by Lurgi GMBH who are now
advising the company on a further expansion
of 12,000 TPA.
NCPL employs 150 personnel, many of whom
are highly qualified engineers.
